SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO CIVIC CENTER: POLICE STATION

The South San Francisco Community Civic Campus includes three separate facilities on an 8-acre site: a Fire Station; a facility housing a Library, Parks and Recreation Department and Council Chambers; and this project, a new Police Station.

This project is the new 43,000 SF Police Station which houses police operations, investigations, support services, evidence storage, 911 emergency dispatch call center, fitness spaces and a firing range with armory. The building includes a community room for the public to interface with the officers, and is also used for police training and education.

The project delivery method used was design-bid-build. MEYERS+ was the engineer of record for the project.

MEYERS+ provided mechanical, electrical, plumbing & fire protection and energy modeling services.

ENGINEERING FEATURES

The Police Station is designed as an ‘Essential Facility’ with full back up power and other engineering provisions to allow it to remain operational in the event of a major disaster, such as an earthquake.  

The firing range HVAC is designed to remove the hazardous byproducts using laminar flow and utilizes HEPA filtration prior to discharge to outdoors.
