Mechanical, Electrical, or Plumbing/Fire Protection Summer Intern - San Francisco

MEYERS+ ENGINEERS is looking for summer interns to work in our mechanical, electrical, or plumbing/fire protection departments in our San Francisco office. The ideal candidate will have a passion for architecture and engineering related to the design and construction of highly sustainable, innovative, high performing buildings.

At MEYERS+ ENGINEERS, you will work with some of the world’s leading architects on a variety of building types including sports stadiums, museums, hotels, high-rise condo towers, university campuses, office towers, and laboratories.

As a summer intern, you will receive direct hands-on experience working with other engineers on the MEYERS+ team to produce engineering drawings utilizing both AutoCAD and REVIT design platforms. We work on projects from the design phase through construction, and you will have the opportunity to spend a certain percentage of your time out of the office at the project site performing site surveys, and the remaining time will be in the office working with your design team.

Our goal is to ensure that you receive the best education in the architectural and MEP engineering industry in order to help inform your career. You will quickly gain experience in the design of Mechanical, Electrical, or Plumbing/Fire Protection Systems; REVIT modeling, building performance and energy code calculations; LEED documentation; architectural coordination; field surveying; building assessments; and direct participation in client meetings as a representative of MEYERS+. Candidates should be actively pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Architectural Engineering, or related field.

Job Description: 

The following job description is a general summary of duties typically performed in this position. 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities: 

  • Work with other engineers to produce drawings utilizing both AutoCAD and Revit Design platforms.  

  • Gain experience working on projects from the design phase through construction.  

  • Coordinate mechanical, electrical, or plumbing/fire protection systems with our architectural clients, both onsite and in office.  

  • Visit project sites to conduct performance site surveys and interface with contractors to ensure the building construction is per design.  

  • Work directly with staff of all levels, including Principals and Associate Principals.  

  • Gain experience designing mechanical systems, electrical systems, or plumbing and fire protection systems. Common to all roles include building performance  modeling, Sustainability and LEED documentation, and building assessments and technical writing.

  • Excellent math skills to apply in the form of engineering.

  • Excellent communications skills to enable successful in-person dialogue and relationships with owners, architects, and other consultants. 

  • Excellent written skills to apply in the form of engineering reports and technical analysis.  

  • Creative thinking and problem-solving skills. 

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, Revit. 

Qualifications: 

  • All General Engineering, Construction Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering, and Architectural Engineering majors or pursuing such degree with a graduation date of Fall 2026 or Spring 2027.  

  • EIT certification (preferred, not required)
