I was born in Oakland, but I moved to the Philippines to live with my grandmother when I was about seven months old. She raised me in a small area within Dagupan City called Bonuan. From kindergarten through fourth grade, I attended five different elementary schools, switching back and forth between different school systems and cultures. It’s made me a bit of a chameleon – I’ve essentially had to relearn social norms and make new friends every year.

I was a spoiled child – I remember being showered with gifts and breaking about half of them. Looking back, I like to rationalize the destruction of the toys by convincing myself that it was the start of my engineering journey. One toy that stood out from the rest was a bright red fire truck. I loved that truck and saw firefighters as heroes.

My experience in the AEC industry has been primarily in plumbing design. I’m excited to expand my expertise into fire protection – younger Jeson would be excited to find out that he’ll be looking at bright red split case fire protection pumps.
