Jacqueline O'Neill
Electrical Design Engineer
In high school, I was actively involved in both the Math and Science National Honor Societies, so when it came time to choose a college major, pursuing a STEM field felt natural. I began my studies in Computer Science at Hofstra University, curious to learn more about coding. While I enjoyed learning multiple programming languages, after a year I realized I was looking for a discipline that I felt had a more real-world impact.
Conversations with classmates in the engineering program, along with guidance from mentors, led me to switch my major to Electrical Engineering. It offered exactly what I was looking for; a balance of mathematics, applied science, and hands-on design.
Before my senior year, I secured an internship with an MEP engineering firm in New York City. That experience confirmed I had found the right path. I was excited by the design process and the opportunity to contribute to projects that shape New York City. After graduating with a degree in Electrical Engineering and a minor in Mathematics, I have continued building my career in the field, contributing to projects throughout New York City.
Did you know?
I love spending time outdoors - walking, biking, reading, and exploring new places. I also love animals! I got my first dog in second grade, and she remains one of the best gifts I’ve ever received. Recently, my family rescued two cats from off the streets. Watching animals who never knew love, experience love and safety for the first time is the best feeling in the world.
