Electrical Engineer - NY


MEYERS+ ENGINEERS is seeking an Electrical Engineer to join our New York office and work on world class design projects with a leading MEP design firm in the architectural engineering consulting industry.  We are looking for a technically proficient and seasoned engineer with experience delivering complex projects.  The ideal candidate will have a passion for architecture and engineering related to the design and construction of highly sustainable, high performance, innovative, and iconic buildings. 

Job Description:
The following job description is a general summary of duties typically performed in this position.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Conceptualize electrical systems and communicate design options to clients and other stakeholders.

  • Develop high quality construction documents and specifications.

  • Perform engineering calculations for building load analysis and emergency power systems.

  • Prepare building due diligence and assessment reports to describe existing systems and electrical design options.

  • Participate with the MEP team in construction administration activities including on-site field observation, punch list reports, contractor coordination, RFI’s, and cost estimate review.

  • Provide mentorship, training, and development for junior staff.

  • Develop client relationships through successful coordination and demonstration of excellence on project work

Key Competencies and Skills:

  • Experience working on a variety of building types through all phases of a project from schematic design through construction administration.

  • Excellent communications skills to enable successful in-person dialogue and relationships with owners, architects and other consultants.

  • Desire for project management roles where you can lead and manage MEP project teams successfully.

  • Excellent written skills in the form of engineering reports and technical analysis.

  • Effective knowledge of the National and NYC Electrical Code, New York Building Code, and NFPA Codes.

  • Creative thinking and problem-solving skills.

  • Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, Revit.

  • Construction administration experience.

  • Engineering calculations (load calculations, short circuit calculations, generator sizing, voltage drop, Title 24 compliance forms)

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical or Architectural Engineering

  • 4+ Years' Experience

  • Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) or actively pursuing

  • LEED Accreditation
