CITY CENTER BISHOP RANCH

A collaboration of Renzo Piano Building Workshop and BAR Architects, City Center Bishop Ranch embraces the natural surroundings of San Ramon's rolling hills with the beloved public squares of the old world. Blending community, commerce and culture, CCBR  is a vibrant meeting and market place and the new heart of downtown San Ramon.

The glass and steel buildings are configured around an open square with bridges that connect the buildings, enhancing circulation and wayfinding. The project includes leased retail spaces, a multi-screen cinema complex and bowling alley.

The project achieved LEED Platinum Certification.

The project delivery method was design-bid-build. MEYERS+ is the engineer of record for the project.

ENGINEERING FEATURES

City Center Bishop Ranch is the largest retail center in the United States to earn LEED platinum certification. This was realized by the incorporation of numerous sustainable and conservation strategies including the landscape irrigation system which uses reclaimed water instead of potable water, the incorporation of water efficient fixtures, High performance building systems resulted in total energy reduction of 39% compared business as usual design and rooftop solar PV array providing 25% of the building’s total energy use.
