Randy Meyers, PE LEED AP BD+C
I grew up in Manhattan in the 60’s when railroad style walk-up buildings were being torn down and replaced with brick clad residential skyscrapers. After school I would hop a construction fence and explore. I was fascinated by buildings and how they were built. My stepfather was the chief estimator at a large electrical contractor; I spent summers in his office reading blueprints and counting receptacles and lighting fixtures. These influences and a college degree led me to a job as an electrical engineer at SOM in 1979. I worked alongside many very experienced architects, job captains as they were called at the time, where I learned the ins and outs of design and construction. Now, nearly 40 years later and with my own firm, those experiences are still what inspire me and make my job fun every day!

I play guitar and sing backup in a rock & roll cover band called Last Bastion. Being an engineer for me is a constant conflict between my analytical and creative sides. Sometimes you can always get what you want.
