Ben Khuong, EIT
Mechanical Designer

Growing up in Los Angeles it was difficult to get a good sense of the outdoors. Luckily, one summer I was given the opportunity to camp out in Wyoming for a month. The experience left me with unforgettable memories and a huge appreciation for nature. It was with this experience that I became passionate about sustainability and the outdoors. I went into the University of California Irvine as a mechanical engineer specializing in energy systems and sustainability. In my third year, I became the lead mechanical engineer for UCI's solar decathlon, a project to create low cost net-zero energy efficient homes. My hope is to continue working on sustainable energy solutions to help combat the world's energy crisis.

Did you know?

I have a passion for fitness — if I wasn't an engineer, I'd probably be a fitness instructor or coach!
